“Digital transformation is much more than new and exponential technologies, it implies a full redefinition of traditional business models and how banks raise the bar to meet new clients’ expectations about customer experience”. This statement by Jorge Ruiz was delivered at FELABAN’s 53rd Annual Assembly while sharing his perspective about trends and opportunities that Financial Institutions face when they embrace Open Banking and 3rd party solutions’ integration. “The Future of the Financial Sector in the era of Technology that Transforms all Businesses” presentation provided attendees with insights regarding the importance of keeping up with new ways of staying relevant in a revamped financial landscape, that is continuously changing.

Jorge stressed the importance for FIs to adapt, anticipate and advance in the development of partnerships to accelerate digital transformation and emphasized how FinTechs have become the enablers for traditional FIs to thrive on change and maximize their potential. Jorge highlighted how non-traditional players such as Apple, with its new solutions Apple Card and Apple Pay; and Uber with its Uberpay are disrupting the financial landscape.
